Beginning April 2011 QMed Knowledge Foundation takes on a role of "Change Makers". We will be engaging in a Capacity Building exercise in Medical Colleges, Teaching Hospitals and Research Institutions.
  • We will train medical students, residents, faculty and researchers to do structured literature searches

  • We will assist in workshops / help coordinate programs on appraisal of literature and scientific writing

  • We will help medical libraries in using technology to provide the best from their libraries / internet resources, to their users.

With this change,

  • The generation of students and young professionals will inculcate "searching for evidence, and evidence based practice" in their professional activities

  • Society gets the benefit of healthcare based on the best current evidence based practice.

What made us change?

QMed Knowledge Foundation is now in the fourth year of existence. In the first two years, we offered our expertise as "Services" to anyone in the healthcare sector.

In the third year, we were fortunate to have our CEO selected as an investee of UnLtd India (www.unltdindia.org). This support helped us interact and brainstorm with several experts, and helped us review our work and explore.

One of our most important activities was to conduct training programs and deliver lectures on literature searching across the country. The assessment and feedback that we collected, showed that there was a lacuna in training in this area of medical education. Our participants almost unanimously agreed that this training needs to be introduced in the medical curriculum. Our related support services (literature searching, delivery of journal articles) also have been much appreciated.

UnLtd India asked us a crucial set of questions.

  • What is the impact of your work?

  • What change is it making in the medical education system?

  • How will it create a social impact?

We worked on all these questions, and changed our strategy. To become Change Makers, Capacity Builders and a Resource Base for those in the medical education sector.
