Dear Readers,
In our August issue, we had mentioned about the Joy of Giving Week and about our plans to give something meaningful, to observe this novel event. We have decided to do something very important for medical students.
Our Act of "Giving"
We are offering free membership to 10 Undergraduate medical students who have got the ICMR-STS scholarships and are either
a) This year's scholars working on their final submission or
b) Last years' scholars working at publishing their research in journals.
The membership entitles them to get quality literature searches and free articles from our Foundation. Each membership is of a value of Rs. 500/-
"INFORMER" helps us in implementation
The President of the Indian Forum for Medical Students Research (INFORMER) is helping us by spreading this message to all members of the forum. Applicants will email us their details not later than Oct 1, 2009. On the 3rd of October, which is the last day of the Joy of Giving Week, we will select recipients of the freeship by a draw of lots. We will inform recipients by email and also announce their names in our website and in our next newsletter.
What we would have additionally liked to "Give"
We had actually wanted to do a couple of training programs free of cost in medical colleges in small towns. Unfortunately we did not have the time to plan such an event at short notice. Our training diary has also been pretty full, thanks to some other sponsorship that came in! Future plans
Our act of "Giving" is just a beginning. We would like to do a lot for medical students who we believe will learn from our expertise. They will grow to become doctors who will be able to get the best of medical information from different resources, using the Internet with ease, expertise and maturity. In turn, this will make a big difference to patients.
We hope that each one of you who is reading this will be happy that we have made a beginning for something useful for our future generation of doctors. We want to do a lot for them - not only by subsidizing our offerings, but by really making some significant differences. We do also have a lot of activities planned for all healthcare professionals
