Launch Of A Product From Indian ITES Sector For Health Care Professionals

Mumbai: February 8, 2004.

QMed Services Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai based medical information company today launched a unique product for the healthcare sector - QMedLINKS: General Medicine. This CD will help doctors get to pre-defined searches that will throw up highly focused references from a database of over 11 million journal citations from 1960 onwards.

Padma Bhushan Dr. R. D. Lele, a pioneer in the use of Computers in Medicine released the CD titled QMedLINKS: General Medicine during the IMA Mumbai Annual Conference on 8th February. Dr. Lele said, “QMedLINKS tackles the basic but very important aspect of information retrieval. The 500+ links take care of retrieval of very relevant articles on a large number of topics. The links for free full texts and commonly available journals make for a very high practical usage of information retrieved”.

Mr. Kiran Karnik, President - NASSCOM in a communication to Ms. Vasumathi Sriganesh, Director of QMed remarked “I am delighted to note that QMed Services Private Limited – a NASSCOM member has successfully created a product from an IT enabled service - a product that focuses on the ‘I' of IT, - in a very important sector namely Healthcare.”

Dr. V.R. Joshi, Consulting Rheumatologist, Hinduja Hospital remarked, “Ironically the more dedicated a physician is, the less time he will have to keep abreast with the overflow of knowledge on an ongoing basis. This (CD) makes access to most, if not all indexed journals easy, precise and instantaneous”.

The Director of QMed, Vasumathi Sriganesh’s vision is to create a sea-change in the way medical professionals in India use electronic information.
